Privacy Policy

Introduction

JuJu Paranormal Pursuit ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website.

App Permissions Required

JuJu requires several device permissions to function properly. We request these permissions only when needed and explain why each is necessary. You can manage permissions in your device settings at any time.

🎤 Microphone Permission

Why we need it: To record Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) sessions and enable voice interaction with Michael AI assistant.

Audio is processed locally on your device. When you use transcription or AI features, audio may be sent to third-party services (OpenAI/Google) according to their privacy policies. You can disable microphone access in device settings, but EVP recording and voice features will be unavailable.

📷 Camera Permission

Why we need it: To capture photos and videos during investigations for evidence documentation.

Photos and videos are stored locally on your device by default. Pro/Pro+ users can optionally upload media to cloud storage. Camera access is only active when you're using the camera feature. You can disable camera access in device settings, but photo/video capture will be unavailable.

📍 Location Permission (GPS)

Why we need it: To tag investigation locations, map paranormal hotspots, and correlate sensor data with geographic locations.

Location data is used to create investigation records and can be anonymized if you enable Anonymous Data Collection. Location is only accessed during active investigations, not in the background. You can disable location access in device settings, but location tagging features will be unavailable.

💾 Storage Permission

Why we need it: To save EVP recordings, photos, videos, investigation data, and app preferences on your device.

All data is stored locally on your device. Storage permission is required to save media files and investigation records. You can manage storage access in device settings, but the app will not be able to save your investigation data without this permission.

📡 Sensor Permissions

Why we need it: To access device sensors for paranormal detection features (EMF, motion, gyroscope, barometric pressure, ambient light, proximity).

Sensor data is used to detect anomalies and provide real-time readings during investigations. Sensor readings are processed locally and can be anonymized if you enable Anonymous Data Collection. Sensor access is automatic on most devices and does not require explicit permission, but some sensors may require device-specific permissions.

Note: You can review and manage all permissions in the app's Settings → Permissions section, or in your device's system settings. Denying permissions will limit app functionality but will not prevent you from using basic features.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data as necessary to provide our services, as described in this policy.

  • Account Information: Email address, name (if provided), authentication tokens from Google/Apple Sign-In

  • Media Files: Photos, videos, and EVP recordings you capture using the app. Media metadata (file sizes, timestamps, durations, GPS coordinates from EXIF) is also collected.
  • Usage Data: App preferences, feature usage, subscription tier, API key usage (stored locally on device, not on our servers)
  • Communication Data: Messages sent to Michael AI assistant, chat history (stored locally on device)

All third-party services we use are compliant with industry-standard security practices and applicable privacy laws (including GDPR, CCPA, and other regional regulations).

Anonymous Data Collection (Opt-In)

JuJu offers an optional Anonymous Data Collection feature that protects your privacy at the cryptographic level.

What is Anonymous Data?

When enabled, your sensor readings and location data are stored using a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) that cannot be reversed, even with full database access or legal subpoenas.

What Data is Anonymized?

  • Anonymous (Protected): Sensor readings, location coordinates, investigation timestamps, anomaly detections
  • Always Linked: Photos, videos, EVP recordings (may contain identifiable information)

Your Privacy Rights with Anonymous Data

  • Your sensor data cannot be traced to your account
  • We cannot provide your data even if legally compelled (we don't have the link)
  • Data is not considered "personal data" under GDPR

Note: Anonymous Data Collection is OFF by default. You can enable it in Settings → Privacy. This setting only affects NEW data.
